Plot Synopsis
Between 1965-1966, more that 500,000 people were purged under the guise of an anti-communist push by the Indonesian army. This episode is mostly skipped over in Indonesian history books because "to the victor goes the spoils" - the perpetrators were never charged, and in fact, many of them became powerful leaders. One of them is Anwar, the animated and prideful protagonist who re-enacts how he tortured and killed his victims in this chilling, controversial and inventive documentary.
